This is what a new R100 million SA government school looks like
By Staff Writer, March 23, 2017
The total project cost R98 million and it was constructed in 2 phases, the department said in a statement. Phase 1 was completed in December 2016 and Phase 2 will be completed by end of May 2017, with the School Hall and Sports field being completed during phase two.
The department noted that the school was currently 93% completed and officially opened on January 2017 – catering for approximately 1,200 learners from Grade R to Grade 7.
“These township schools boast high-end learning facilities and will ensure that “our learners will get quality education where they reside,” said MEC for Education Panyaza Lesufi.
“Already, we are reaping the benefits of the investment being made in township schools. In the 2016 National Senior Certificate, township schools made us proud by contributing substantially to the overall pass. Remarkably out the 32 schools that achieved a 100% pass rate, 8 are from the township.”
